Okay - I used the wrong word .

I've done a bit of digging and, on stevieray.com it says that Billy Gibbons gave the Hamiltone to Stevie Ray and that he made "countless stage appearances" with it.

I'm definitely no SRV expert and I never saw him live but neither had I seen him with that guitar previously - nor have I ever seen a "Hamiltone" anywhere else.

[IMG][/QUOTE] For the WIN!!! Seriously how many times do you need your name on the headstock? It looks like they actually widened the thing to get his name on two more times... as if his name on there 8 times would make it more popular than just 5-6 times....

I alway thought the Tele had a horrible looking headstock, until I saw some of the posts in this thread.
The one just above this post is trying awful hard to beat the Tele for ugliness.

Quoting this one again - I was over on Guitarsbyleo.com (the G&L forum) and they were showing some photos of reissue basses with the original headstock. Part of the "CLF Research" series, so I wonder if there are going to be some guitars in that series later this year. They have also said something about the current F-100 and SC-2 going "on hiatus" so maybe we will get some original-spec F-100s and SCs (they had a 1, a 2 and a 3 based on the number of pickups) coming later this year.

That's very similar to the Fender Custom Shop 12-string Telecaster headstock with only six strings.

Yes, pretty ugly. It would be better if they installed a bottle opener on it. How many rock guitarists would dig that? Problem solved.

Just realised what this abomination reminds me of - those giant foam hands worn by audience members at sporting events! To me, the PRS headstock is a thing of minimalist beauty after this.

I've been known to take a jig or bandsaw to offending headstocks and body horns.
I had a Cort super Strat thing that got a hornectomy and a long Epi head that got shortened.
    Nothin' cool or 'spensive.
    Just sayin'.

I love, Love, Love Matsumoku guitars. I do think all their headstock designs are horrible...
    IMG_3461.JPG
So I found some of their more obscure variants with less terrible headstock designs.

Don't know what it is but I just HATE the Epiphone headstock. Not so much the bookend 80's epip custom headstock just the generic one.

Now that Epi headstock I like. I hate the newer clipped ear headstock much more.

You have to wonder how much thought went into the newer Epiphone headstock. Did they think, well, an Epiphone is pretty much a Gibson with some corners cut, so why don’t we just take the Gibson headstock and literally cut off the corners.

It just looks like a pair of lips the old one.... I don't particularly like the new one as either, but at least it doesn't look like a big &ss lip. I would say that I'm not in the minority on this based on how many times Epiphone has changed their headstock..

But, Epi still uses the old style on certain models, as well as their premium guitars. I wouldn't say you can assume you are in the majority.

The $2k Epi Casino Elitist has the old headstock. As well as the very popular 339.
