I didn't find a YouTube link for my previous post, so here comes: The one who hasn't got enough credit for her guitar playing isn't playing this time and she's accompanied by a bass player who's got all the credit (for a good reason). Here comes at least two certified geniuses:

Aren't Larry Carlton and Skunk Baxter universally recognized as session legends?

    This thread is very weird.

Kenny Vaughan, lead guitar for many years with Marty Stuart and the Fabulous Superlatives. this guy probably isn't very well known outside of country fans.

I heard 'My Sharona' the other day, and really, that guitar solo is incredibly well done. Good Call.

One of my favorites is Henry Garza, one of three brothers who are the Los Lonely Boys, from San Angelo, Texas. Henry is a talented guy, sings lead vocals, plays lead and rhythm guitar. He can also play blues with the best of them.

    I've played it.
Still has a set list on top that starts with "Operator."

As much crap as that guy gets, I’ve never been embarrassed to give him the credit for me picking up guitar back in 1987.

I saw Bo and many of the other 50's "race music" rock and roll guys in 69 or 70 on one of those 50's nostalgia tours.

I was in junior high. Back in those days we could safely hitch hike anywhere, so we would go to venues and figure out a way to get in - I literally had NO money, probably not even pocket change.

The thing about it was that they were, at that point, considered "old and washed up" but they were mostly still in their 30's or early 40's.

I think you may have misread the post...it said "aren't taken seriously". Zappa is incredibly well respected both as a composer and as a guitarist. I don't think I've ever heard anyone say anything negative about his playing. People may not understand him or his work, but he is held in very high regard.

Oh, I guess the thread changed from "not taken seriously" to "not recognized." Well, heck, the average person wouldn't recognize Brent Mason or Albert Lee, so let's add them to the list.
