The Olympics are alright. I personally don't watch them, but I can see why people would.

I've never been into sports and athletics... I'm into music instead. :p

I'm surprised to see no Bob "Pink Eye" Costas in the broadcast booth.

Watched a little snowboarding and the Russian and USA ice skating teams. I enjoyed what I watched of it, but I was already tube fatigued from watching Ted Porter kick the pants off of some of the highest ranking golfers in the world at Pebble Beach. Good for him, come back man deluxe. He had his A game today. Kind of nice to see a guy who doesn't look like Adonis win!

Tree marking is my new sport.:D

Oh wait, no referee. Does that count then? I could get some style marks ... maybe.

As a musician, the parallel between a perfect musical performance and a sport executed as close as possible to perfect on one single moment in time, at such a high level like the olympics is one thing that attracts me.

Mirai Nagasu's event yesterday,.. something pretty special. The Norwegian skier, fell down and was trampled at the start of his race, came from last and hurt to win the race by an 8th of a mile, wasn't anyone close.

    That's the real stuff.

Yes, the winter games rule. What's unfortunate about hockey is that it will still be pro hockey players, mainly from the AHL. It would be way cooler if it was the best college hockey players.

One more reason not to take figure skating seriously. :)

That would seriously skew the competition towards the U.S., which has a far larger pool of players in college than any other country. They could perhaps make it a Junior tournament.
The pro vs amateur thing is so outdated that there's no point in even bringing it up anymore.

I think they both look fabulous and appropriate to the sport. Cowboy hats wouldn't work.

    Or maybe,..

I hear ya on that last point, especially since ice hockey is so much younger than the Olympics.

Specifically college players wouldn't work, but I guess I meant college-age players. There are plenty of Canadian kids playing hockey in US colleges though, you guys would be fine too ;) A junior tournament without the under-20 limit maybe? My point is that rather than seeing the best washed-up AHL lifers I'd like to see the best young guns. That's why we have the WJC, I know, but that excludes the early-twenty-somethings who should be there.

Man, without the NHL sending their guys it quickly becomes a sh*t show "ahh who cares then" kind of thing  but I think it's best for the NHL not to go, it's not worth the risk, same goes for the hockey world cup honestly.

Organized hockey in Canada predates the modern Olympics by 20 years. :)

Also, the oldest Junior players are only 20 yrs old. There aren't any "early-twenty-somethings." The Senior ranks, though, might still have some good players, although the only guys playing amateur Senior are those not good enough to go pro, not even in the ECHL.
